Non-Compliant Products
The Following Applies to Products Which Are Labeled as Non-Compliant:
Certain Helium Neon laser products sold by Pacific Lasertec possess labels indicating non-compliance with regulatory requirements pertaining to laser safety.
Non-compliance may be a result of special labeling requests, absence of a beam shutter, absence of a housing which prevents access to the beam, etc. Products with these characteristics are designed for OEM customers who wish to incorporate the products into their instruments.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE USER TO COMPLY WITH ALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AS APPLICABLE TO THE PRODUCT IN QUESTION, INCLUDING ATTAINING AN ACCESSION NUMBER, LABELING, SAFETY INTERLOCKS, SUBMITTING A PRODUCT REPORT AND FILING ANNUAL REPORTS AS MAY BE REQUIRED. Other relevant information is contained in the standards specified under IEC 60825-1.
A key in determining your compliance requirements is the Laser Safety Class of the product in question. Pacific Lasertec HeNe laser products fall into Class II (Class 2), Class IIIa (Class 3R), or Class IIIb (3B). This is determined primarily by the maximum output power, beam size and operating wavelength. The Laser Class of your end-product may be different, depending on the installation configuration and potential for user access to laser light.
